He is also going to be charged with conspiracy to commit all those offenses. His bail will be set at $250,000.

The woman, who was driving for Uber Eats, had suffered a serious head injury during the assault, which led to a chase into Bridgeport. According to the Westport police, the robbery happened a little before 7pm on March 5th, when the woman was picking up a pizza from a Pos =t Road restaurant. While she was in the restaurant, the victim noticed somebody getting into her car – a white Hyundai. When she went outside to stop the person, she was injured.

According to the police, they had learned that witnesses at the restaurant saw the suspect getting out of a black Acura prior to the theft, and that both of the cars were last seen driving west on Post Road East.

An officer who was stationed on the Sherwood Island Connecter had spotted both cars traveling on the I-95 towards Bridgeport. As the officer activated his lights and siren attempting to make a traffic stop, both cars just took off, according to police.

Because of the severity of the crime, the officer tried to pursue the two cars. He unfortunately lost sight of the stolen Hyundai but still chased teh Acura, which got off the I-95 in Bridgeport. Police said the driver then lost control of his car and struck several parked cars.

Two of the occupants of the Acura ran and a third was captured by the officer. Bridgeport officers thta were called to the scene then captured the two other suspects.

Police had learned the Acura was stolen from Hamden earlier in the day, and officers found a handgun in the car.

Giovanni Abreu, 18, and two other juveniles were then taken into custody and charged with robbery, conspiracy to commit robbery, assault on an elderly person, larceny, conspiracy to commit larceny, criminal possession of a firearm, illegal transfer of a firearm, theft of a firearm, engaging police in pursuit and reckless driving. Abreu was held on $100,000 bond and the other juveniles were taken to a juvenile detention center.

Hart’s other charges are: conspiracy to commit first-degree robbery, conspiracy to commit first-degree assault on an elderly person

The investigators believe that Hart was the one who was driving the Hyundai. They did not say wether or not they found the car.

Westport police said they had help on the case from police units in New Haven, Bridgeport, and Hamden, also from members of the U.S. Marshals Service.

Westport Chief, Foti Koskinas, had thanked all those that had worked on the case, but also made the reminder to the community to be vigilant.

“What initially began as individuals targeting unlocked vehicles in the overnight hours has evolved into the theft of unattended vehicles at all times of day and night, in some cases by way of force,” Koskinas had said. “We ask that you please remember to always lock your vehicle and take your keys with you, no matter what the circumstances.”
