Apparently it’s been happening across the country in states such as Oregon and California as well as internationally in Mexico City. According to the federal agency, criminals have been using these ride-share services such as Uber and Lyft since they’re so easy to book and because the security protocols are not very strict. They also have said detection is less likely, and because of the COVID-19 guidance, masks also make it harder for any witnesses to identify criminals.

However an FBI special agent out of Pittsburgh said that this is rare and instead this is what they’ve been seeing happen in their area.
